China National Machinery Industry Co (Sinomach) will spare no effort in promoting Chinese designs and standards overseas, said Zhang Xiaolun, chairman of Sinomach, during a seminar in Beijing on May 24.

Several subsidiaries of the group, including the China Machinery Engineering Co and SIPPR Engineering Group Co, delivered reports on how their designs and standards were doing in foreign markets.

Attendees talked amongst themselves and tried to find ways to improve their poor overseas performance.

Bai Shaotong, deputy general manager of Sinomach, offered four pieces of advice: promote the industrial plan as the first step in expanding the design business, improve design skills and integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) into all services, expand high-end engineering markets by acquiring famous foreign design companies, and fully use the resources within the group.

Chinese products and engineering have achieved great success in overseas markets over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, but Chinese designs and standards are still not widely accepted, said Zhang Xiaolun, chairman of Sinomach.

He told the group to increase its competitiveness, improve its reputation, establish an advanced evaluation system, and set up a world-class training system for high-end workers.
