Construction on a table tennis gym was recently completed in Male, capital of the Maldives.

It was sponsored and built by China Machinery Engineering Co (CMEC), a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Co (Sinomach).

A launch ceremony was held on March 18, with Zhang Lizhong, Chinese ambassador to the Maldives, and Ali Waheed, the country’ s Minister of Tourism, in attendance.

Waheed expressed gratitude for China’s contribution to the Maldives’ economic and social development, saying that the country would work to strengthen its partnership with China.

During the ceremony, the Chinese embassy in the Maldives, on behalf of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, donated a batch of training equipment with the aim of promoting the sport among local teenagers.

CMEC was one of the first State-owned enterprises to enter the Maldivian market and has been highly praised by the local government and residents for helping relieve the country’s housing shortage.
